Refyne are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing, culture-led consumer beauty brand committed to redefining social storytelling, digital innovation, and community-driven engagement. Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Director, Content Strategy & Community Engagement to lead the development and execution of global social strategy, content production, platform growth, and brand-led community conversations.

This position is ideal for a strategic, creative, and culturally fluent leader with deep social expertise and a strong ability to build brand love, drive engagement, and stay ahead of cultural and digital shifts. The successful candidate will oversee social vision, content strategy, creative direction, insights, and community engagement while managing a small team and partnering cross-functionally across Brand, Creative, Influencer, Digital, and International teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Strategy & Cultural Leadership

  • Serve as the internal expert across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, and emerging platforms.

  • Shape channel-specific strategies balancing lo-fi, hi-fi, long-form, short-form, and creator-led content.

  • Track cultural shifts, beauty trends, and algorithm changes to ensure the brand remains a cultural driver, not a follower.

  • Benchmark against industry-leading, social-first brands to identify opportunities for differentiation.

Global Social Strategy

  • Own and execute the brand’s global social strategy and multi-channel roadmap.

  • Define social voice, visual identity, and posting philosophy across platforms.

  • Translate product launches, brand campaigns, and key moments into platform-native storytelling.

  • Build tailored strategies for consumer, professional/stylist, and international audiences.

  • Align closely with Influencer and Creator teams to ensure cohesive ecosystem storytelling.

Content Calendar & Execution

  • Lead development of monthly, weekly, and daily content calendars.

  • Balance proactive storytelling with reactive trend and cultural content.

  • Partner with Brand, Creative, and Editorial to deliver clear, high-quality content briefs.

  • Ensure cross-functional priorities feed into one cohesive social calendar.

Community Engagement

  • Oversee strategy for comments, DMs, replies, duets, stitches, and real-time interaction.

  • Create a dynamic, engaging social presence that builds authentic two-way relationships.

  • Implement TikTok-native engagement frameworks (comment-to-video, UGC amplification, stitching trends).

  • Identify and amplify high-potential creators and superfans.

Creative Direction & Copywriting

  • Set and uphold a high creative standard for social content.

  • Write or approve platform-native copy, hooks, scripts, and captions.

  • Develop new formats, content series, and storytelling structures.

  • Guide creators and production partners to ensure brand consistency.

AI & Modern Content Production

  • Use AI tools for ideation, benchmarking, scripting, and workflow optimization.

  • Stay informed on emerging technologies that enhance creativity and production efficiency.

Creator Network & Production Management

  • Maintain a roster of creators, editors, and production partners for always-on content.

  • Commission platform-native creators and oversee content production timelines and quality.

  • Support launch, evergreen, and brand storytelling needs across teams.

Analytics & Optimization

  • Own reporting, insights, and performance analysis across social platforms.

  • Identify high-performing content, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

  • Implement test-and-learn methodologies across formats, cadence, and messaging.

Budget & Operations

  • Manage social and content-related budgets, including production, tools, and creators.

  • Build efficient workflows across Social, Creative, Influencer, Copy, Digital, and Brand teams.

  • Ensure clarity, speed, and excellence in execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner across Brand, Creative, Digital, PR, Education, and International teams to ensure alignment.

  • Share insights, opportunities, and recommendations with senior stakeholders.

  • Lead cross-functional brainstorms to spark culturally relevant ideas.

Candidate Profile:

  • 7–10+ years of experience leading social media and content strategy for high-growth consumer brands (beauty preferred).

  • Proven success driving organic social growth and breakthrough engagement.

  • Deep expertise across major and emerging social platforms.

  • Strong creative instincts with a refined aesthetic eye.

  • Exceptional platform-native copywriting skills.

  • Culturally fluent, trend-driven thinker with strong strategic judgment.

  • Experience managing creators, freelancers, or content teams.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
