Why We Keep Showing Up: Refyne at CCR London
We spent the day at CCR London, and it was a good reminder of why we don't try to run a recruitment business entirely from behind a screen.
Most of what we do can happen over email and calls. But the things that actually make us good at our job - understanding what a founder is really worried about, what a brand's culture feels like, why a role has been sitting open for months tend to come out in person, usually somewhere around the second glass of wine.
CCR is where the personal care industry shows up in one room. Skincare brands looking for medical professionals, device companies scaling fast, and founders working out their next hire. Talking to them face-to-face means we're briefing on the real role, not the job spec. That's the difference between sending three CVs and sending the right one.
It's also just useful to be in the room. The industry moves quickly, and the skills and technologies our clients need this year aren't the ones they needed last. Walking the floor, seeing the new devices and launches, talking to the people building them - that's how we stay current, and how we stay credible when a client asks whether we genuinely understand their market.
And, selfishly, it's a good day out for the team. Time out of the office, new faces, and a proper look at the industry we recruit into.
We came away with stronger relationships, a few new ones, and a longer list of people we want to keep talking to.
2025's diary is already filling up, Cosmoprof, ACE and in-cosmetics are all on it. If you're going to be at any of them, come and find us.
