About Our Client
We are partnering with a fast growing haircare brand with a strong direct to consumer business and a growing retail presence. They are building out their supply chain team and are looking for a procurement leader to manage their supplier network and support a busy product pipeline.
The Opportunity
As Senior Manager, Procurement, you will report to the Senior Director of Supply Chain and lead sourcing, supplier management and commercialisation for the haircare range. You will own the raw material and packaging categories, drive margin improvement and work closely with R&D, Marketing and Operations to bring new products to market.
This is a strategic and analytical role for someone with deep experience in personal care contract manufacturing and strong operational discipline, from purchase orders through to ERP data. You will manage a small team, including an NPD Project Manager and a Purchasing Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
- Build supplier scorecards, run quarterly business reviews and track performance across suppliers, contract manufacturers and packaging vendors.
- Manage supply risk through regular health checks on key suppliers and co-packers, with dual sourcing and contingency plans in place.
- Negotiate service agreements, quality agreements and pricing with legal, finance and technical teams.
- Develop category strategies for raw materials, primary and secondary packaging and contract manufacturing services.
- Run competitive RFPs and benchmark costs to improve total cost of ownership.
- Lead cost reduction projects and track savings across raw materials, packaging and manufacturing costs, while protecting brand and quality standards.
- Work with R&D and sustainability teams to source recycled packaging, certified paper and clean beauty compliant ingredients.
- Own the procurement and manufacturing workstreams for new products, from lab scale to pilot trials and full commercial runs, so launches land on time.
- Oversee purchase orders, consigned inventory and invoice matching with Accounts Payable.
- Maintain ERP data, including SKU setups, vendor records and multi level bills of materials, so costs and material planning stay accurate.
- Track and audit tooling investments held at supplier and co-packer sites.
Ideal Background
- 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or supply chain within consumer packaged goods.
- Direct sourcing experience in beauty, personal care or, ideally, haircare.
- Proven experience managing contract manufacturers, leading new product commercialisation and structuring supplier contracts.
- Advanced ERP skills (NetSuite preferred) and strong data analysis, including advanced Excel or SQL.
- Strong negotiation, contract and financial modelling skills.
- Technical knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, raw material specifications and packaging such as pumps, dispensers and closures is preferred.
- Excellent project management and close attention to detail on bills of materials and item master setups.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, chemistry, materials science or packaging engineering preferred. CPSM, CSCP or APICS certification is a plus.
