About Our Client
We are partnering with a fast-growing haircare brand selling across direct to consumer, Amazon, TikTok Shop, Walmart and other major retail and marketplace channels. A lean, entrepreneurial team, they are building the financial systems, controls and reporting needed to support profitable growth and retail expansion.
The Opportunity
As Financial Controller, you will report to the Head of Finance and own the accounting function end to end. You will be responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the company's financial records across DTC, marketplaces, retail, wholesale, inventory and corporate operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will lead the monthly close, strengthen inventory and revenue accounting, put scalable controls in place and support the company's NetSuite transformation, while keeping the business audit ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close, working towards preliminary reporting in five business days and a full close in ten.
- Prepare accurate, GAAP compliant financial statements, with reconciliations, accruals and audit ready documentation.
- Own inventory accounting across manufacturers, 3PLs, marketplaces, retail and DTC, including standard costs, landed costs, COGS and reserves.
- Improve gross margin visibility by SKU, category, channel and customer.
- Own revenue and settlement reconciliation across Shopify, TikTok Shop, Amazon, Walmart and wholesale, including retailer deductions, chargebacks and trade spend.
- Oversee cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable, supporting cash flow forecasting and working capital.
- Partner with the Head of Finance to implement and optimise NetSuite and automate manual processes.
- Build internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, and coordinate external audit and tax requirements, including sales tax and multi state nexus.
- Manage and develop the accounting team.
Ideal Background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA strongly preferred.
- 8 to 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller responsibility.
- Experience owning a full monthly close and preparing GAAP financial statements.
- Deep experience in inventory, cost accounting, landed costs, COGS and gross margin.
- Multichannel revenue accounting experience across DTC, wholesale and marketplaces.
- Background in CPG, beauty, consumer products or another inventory intensive business is a must.
- NetSuite implementation, optimisation or administration experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting external audits and managing accounting professionals.
- Hands on, detail oriented, accountable and comfortable in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
